Visitors to the film Napoleon, last Sunday at Ziggo Dome, who had thought of booking dinner at one of the intervals, will get their money back. This was decided by the Holland Festival after a commotion arose on the internet, and beyond, about the caterer's lousy service, and the rather poor quality of what was on offer. Visitor Marc Veerkamp said the following on facebook:
"The dinner was an unmitigated embarrassment. The setup was a buffet. Pretty sparse, by the way. There was hardly any capacity, resulting in miserable queues. The food we could see from the queue did not look like €30. One of the lucky ones who had already scored something called it 'a mash-up': a conimex-like noodle substance from La Place. Many diners sat in the dark, a number of tables were in places with no lighting and only one miniscule light on the table top provided some visibility. Anyway, many people barely got around to eating, they just stood around waiting, including many over-60s."
People who were able to get some of the mash will get half of their deposit back. Visitors who, like Veerkamp, went outside to get a fry will get all their money back. We think that's very cool of the Holland Festival, and neat of the caterer and organiser.
