This 47th edition's festival theme is NEWSPEAK: How do poets deal with ideologically charged and polluted language due to framing? 'Less! Less! Less!' And what can the poet do with new language, Urban Language created by mixing languages and cultures, laced with quotes from film, clips and social media. In three programmes, poets and special guests will search for answers with the audience. During the festival opening NEWSPEAK, the festival poets introduce themselves with loaded poems. The Mondriaan Quartet performs poems by Allen Ginsberg and you will hear the Anti-Synthpop of Rooie Waas.
Later in the week, the programme 'Frame by Frame' (8 June) delves into ideologically claimed language, 'NeuParleNuevo' (11 June) explores the influence of Urban Language on poetry.
