Theme NBE composition competition 2021: STAY UP!

Every year, the Netherlands Wind Ensemble (NBE) and BNNVARA the composition competition Heading to the New Year's concert for everyone up to the age of 18. Rappers, violinists, wind players, drummers, keyboard players, singer-songwriters, everyone can participate and have a chance to join the top musicians of the NBE on the stage of The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on 1 January 2021, broadcast on TV by BNNVARA.
This year's composition competition theme is: STAY ON!

The NBE calls on young composers to write music about something or someone they want to stand up for, or even rebel against. There are hardly any rules, anything goes and anything goes as long as it is self-invented.

Every year, the NBE composition competition Towards the New Year Concert proves its power. Every year, the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble receives masterpieces by more than 100 (squeaky) young composers. The competition proves to be a springboard for many a serious composing talent in the Netherlands.
