Maas theatre and dance presents a 60-minute creative lecture by eat designer Marije Vogelzang every week from Saturday 5 September to Friday 16 October 2020 as part of summer performance The Wild Kitchen. Vogelzang's goal with the lectures is to inspire visitors and viewers to improve their relationship with food. All lectures can be followed via an interactive livestream on the Maas website (maastd.co.uk/stream). This livestream is free for all to visit thanks to a contribution from the Prince Bernhard Culture Fund.

Creative lectures on food

With the series of creative lectures, eat designer Marije Vogelzang gives you a different perspective on what you put in your mouth every day. An apple, for example. When you take a bite of an apple, do you ever stop to think about the weight of the apple in your hand, the temperature, whether it has been sprayed? Where did that apple actually come from? How many bees do you need to fertilise an entire apple tree? Can you actually eat apple blossom and what happens when you eat the apple seeds? Why can you buy apples for up to €300 in Japan? Marije Vogelzang does not answer all these questions, but the questions do give rise to stories, ideas and inspiration to experience the food you eat every day in a completely different way.

Each college has its own theme as its starting point:

Vogelzang's goal is to improve our relationship with food through design.

The wild kitchen: everything you give attention to grows.

The creative lectures are given as part of The Wild Kitchen. In theatrical tour The Wild Kitchen, we celebrate the multitude of possibilities we have around us. We turn all assumptions about what is healthy, cosy and tasty upside down. We will slow down, change our eyes, explore guerrilla gardening, say goodbye to fresh pork sausage and create a totally new plan for the food of the future.

Goed om te weten Good to know
The nearly 50 performances of The Wild Kitchen in Rotterdam are all sold out. For the
performances in Amsterdam from 2 - 4 October tickets are still available (www.krakeling.nl).
