'The story of Anders' (8+) is the new Dance Theatre AYA performance created by Ryan Djojokarso, new resident choreographer with the company. A performance full of dance, absurd humour and crazy twists. Sometimes you just have to look at things differently. The premiere takes place on Friday 9 October at 19.30 in Theater De Krakeling at its new location Cultuurpark Westergas in Amsterdam.
Anders and Ike are inseparable friends and can take on the whole world. They have vowed to always stay together. After all, in a fairy tale, anything is possible. A frog turning into a prince, a princess taming dragons, two princes marrying each other. At least that's what Ike thinks. But Anders feels differently. Especially when Salina moves into the street... Anders, Ike and Salina play between the
rules, because they have much more space than the world gives them. Who or what they are, they discover
by itself. And tomorrow it might just be different. Maybe the day after tomorrow you will be a chicken.
Ryan Djojokarso on the show: "These are extraordinary times at the moment. In 'The Story of Different'
we go in search of a world where everything should be allowed and where there is also room for everyone. Who
are we to judge another just because someone is supposedly 'different'. In the performance
the three dancers/performers Simon Mual, Jochem Eerdekens and Chanel Vyent play with culture, with
learned behaviour, with colour, with pigeonholing. What culture do you bring, what do you like, what do you fall for? It's so important to look at things differently, because the dominant norm often spoils all the nuances."
