Theatre of Concordia, at home on the tube

THIS IS A PRESS RELEASE

Cultural organisations with a small or large membership can place their press releases on our site without restriction. Participate too? Become a member, as an institution.

With the lockdown in full swing and the curfew shackling us to our homes, the theatre performances at Concordia Film | Theatre | Visual Arts in Enschede continue as usual. With no less than three diverse, musical performances this coming week that can be followed via livestream, so you can still get your much-needed dose of culture. And the good thing is, you don't have to leave the house.

On Thursday 28 January at 20.00, it is again time for Enschede's most atmospheric singer-songwriter evening with 'Most beautiful songs'. Anne-Linde van de Veen, Mark Stouwdam and Peter Schilmöller take to the stage to perform their own songs. Each edition of 'Most beautiful songs' offers a stage to people who are each at a different point in their development and career, bringing together amateurs and (semi-)professionals.

Women in trousers, men in skirts

Sunday 31 January, 2pm, it is the turn of Rie-jetske Komen, Martijn van Loon and Erik Meinema with the performance 'Women in trousers, men in skirts'. The musical story of the period 1920-1935 when Berlin was the cultural capital of Europe. On the ruins of World War I, a new and democratic Germany is being built. A new world in which anything is possible and old boundaries between men and women blur. Songs and lyrics by Brecht, Spoliansky, Marlene Dietrich and others tell this moving story, showing that many contemporary themes are of all times.

Ripping saxophone cries

For a swinging lunch break, tune into our live stream on Monday, February 1, 12.30pm, for the performance of jazz trio The Preacher Men. In gritty, deep-groovy Hammond sounds and ripping saxophone cries, The Preacher Men convincingly tell their musical story that harks back to the days of Blue Note and Verve, the time of heroes like Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Lou Donaldson & Stanley Turrentine. The time of smoky jazz clubs in Chicago and New York.

Practical

The performances are played live, on stage in the bonbonnière. Concordia's website makes it easy to buy your ticket and when the performance starts, all you have to do is click on the livestream button and the enjoyment can begin. You can watch on your computer, tablet or phone and via a Chromecast also on your TV. For Most Beautiful Songs, a ticket is not necessary and you can watch the performance for free on Thursday at 8pm.
