For four decades, 's-Hertogenbosch has turned into a lively stage for inspiring performances and encounters for 11 days in August. Ticket sales for the first fourteen performances of the anniversary edition of Theatre Festival Boulevard started today for Friends (on Tuesday 28 May for everyone). At the same time, the free Boulevard Magazine 1 with background articles and interviews will be published.
Celebrating man
Since 1985, Theatre Festival Boulevard has offered stages to several thousand makers from home and abroad. They performed at a total of 247 different venues in and around 's-Hertogenbosch, the city that is inextricably linked to the festival. This year, Boulevard once again offers a summer festival experience for theatre fans and terrace lovers alike. "We seek the celebrating man and celebrate the seeking man," said directors Tessa Smeulers and Dana Kibbelaar in Boulevard Magazine.
The first fourteen
Boulevard's programmers have again booked a delicious palette of performances and concerts. Old familiars come with new work and new faces surprise us. Think of Igor x Moreno from Italy with their rousing new show, of Dries Verhoeven, Katja Heitmann or De Dansers taking the stage together with Club Gewalt. New Boulevard creator Manu van Kersbergen moves heaven and earth together with .multibeat in search of a new language to describe the changing world. Lebanese choreographer and dancer Omar Rajeh performs an impressive solo. You can also go on an expedition with Het Houten Huis and Theater Stap, see the new performance by BERLIN/Fien Leysen, dance to the beats of Steffen Morrison and be inspired by an ode to female voices in the dance performance by Jan Martens from Belgium. Laika is also back! Together with Theatre Froefroe, they bring Tortot (10+), including a meal. Also miss the resounding familyA fun night out (8+) by Theatre Artemis/The Zuidelijk Toneel/thepaleis not. And discover what Big People (4+) do all day at Compagnie Barbarie's performance. Happy birthday treats! Especially for the fortieth edition, De Stijle, Want... comes to the festival centre on the Parade one more time.
Tickets and detailed information about the performances can be found atwww.festivalboulevard.nl and in Boulevard Magazine 1, available for free at the den Bosch library, cultural institutions and cafés in and around the city. The complete programme will be announced on 20 June.
