'Ann Goldstein's departure signals Ann Goldstein's departure'

Wonderful quote in the Volkskrant, also copied by the ANP in the message feeds on Ann Goldstein's departure as artistic director of hert Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. Or vice versa. Just read carefully:

"With her resignation, Goldstein has indicated that, in her view, her work for the museum is complete and that the museum is ready for a new artistic director to lead it into the future."

How could it be otherwise. This is called 'stating the obvious'. It would have been news if Goldstein had indicated that in her view her work for the museum was not had been completed, and that the not was ready for a new artistic director to run the museum in the future. Or that her departure had indicated that alien life does exist after all.

Other than that, of course, news we all saw coming a bit. It was known that she was not lying well, that the staff missed her three days a week and that the press did not like her.

Wonder if the next chief executive will be a woman again. Seems rather essential.
