The stage of the world around us with an international orientation: The PLEIN THEATER is a unique venue in Amsterdam Oost offering theatre, dance and music for children, young people and adults. Unfortunately, after 38 years, it risks closure due to the aftermath of Covid-19 as well as the rejection for structural support. The theatre has started a petition asking the City of Amsterdam urgent To provide additional support.
The theatre's foundation, Foundation PodiumPartners, made an application for a four-year grant to the A-Bis and the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts earlier this year, but unfortunately it was not granted. Dear the double setback of no four-yearicy support and the aftermath of COVID-19, threatens to force the theatre to close its doors during 2021.

The PLEIN THEATER is a presenting stage with a short distance to the neighbourhood and a theatre with an international orientation, a springboard for young talent and a producing theatre.
"Our programming consists of small-scale and intimate performances featuring contemporary chamber music, modern dance, youth theatre and experimental theatre. On the one hand, we choose to show top theatre groups and, on the other, we provide space for young, talented creators to gain experience and experiment.
In addition, as a production house, we create our own theatre projects in theatres and public spaces, linking to historical and social themes of the world around us."
