Theatre Group Alum welcomes the many newcomers in the new Arts Plan. That this is at the expense of Alum, among others, we find surprising and of course very unfortunate.
Of course, we could now report on our bewilderment at so much injustice but, after all, getting a grant is not a right. Although it sometimes feels that way when you've had the opportunity to work with so many talented people, with so much passion and commitment and with so much success in recent years. Other choices have been made by a committee of people who also work with energy and passion for the future of the theatre.
Thanks to a formidable report from the municipality of Utrecht, we can happily continue. Admittedly with a smaller budget than hoped for, but with a great team, wonderful actors and loyal partners, we have enough ground under our feet to face the coming years cheerfully.
We congratulate the stayers and the newcomers. We lick our wounds and then just carry on with our magical craft. See you in the theatre, in the schools, on location and in our own Villa Concordia.
