The jubilee theatre company looks back with satisfaction on the Ienakterfestival which took place in its own building on 21 and 22 March. Despite the glorious weekend weather, the performances by amateur actors were almost all sold out, resulting in an elated festival atmosphere in the building.
The Ienakterfestival was a gift from Tryater to the Frisian amateur field, from which it itself emerged in 1965. For the occasion, five playwrights, including Wessel de Vries whose location performance will soon be Swimbad brought by Tryater, asked to write a one-act play. Drama societies and actors from across Fryslân were urged to apply, to which there was plenty of response last year.
Thus, eight groups were on show on Saturday and Sunday: six associations and two occasional groups. With Tryater's guidance, including technical support, they worked towards the festival weekend over the past months. In front of packed halls, the players performed the result of their hard work, to thunderous applause. Occasionally followed by an inspired Q&A with the director and writer of the one-act.

Jubilee: book and more
In this way, together with the rich Frisian theatre field, Tryater delved into the magic of making theatre with combined forces, exactly what the anniversary season (Tryater already turned 60 on 7 September 2025) is all about. Throughout the season, Tryater celebrates its 60th anniversary in a variety of ways, certainly not a given in these cultural times. In September, around the anniversary, the anniversary book was published via publisher Afûk Tryater spilet, which during the Ienakterfestival still went off smoothly.
Swimbad
After including anniversary performance Twa minuten foar oanfang and an extended Christmas edition of the youth show Anwar and the wolf it was Ienakterfestival an important and stop in the festive season, which concludes with the big location performance Swimbad, in and around Bakkeveen's outdoor swimming pool.
With Swimbad Tryater wraps up its anniversary season, to return after the summer with travel performance Fierder nei it noarden diving into season 2026-2027. For Swimbad ticket sales are already running in full via the website; for the later performances, the digital box office will open soon.
