STIPcast is a podcast series that gives an insight into behind-the-scenes theatre life in the Netherlands. Six episodes cover important aspects of theatre-making, such as artistic vision and innovation, talent development, writing texts and programming.
Dutch youth theatre is currently at an unprecedented high level. More than 16 BIS companies, several production houses with talent development programmes and a stage infrastructure for thousands of youth performances ensure international recognition and hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.
How has youth theatre been able to grow so much, who participated in it and where are there still opportunities and developments?
Dramaturg Els Hazenbos and theatre journalist Brechtje Zwaneveld will take you along and talk to specialists and professionals about what is going on and what is exciting in the youth theatre sector.
In the STIPcast are guests: Noël Fischer (artistic director HNTjong) and Daniël van Klaveren (artistic director of Theater Sonnevanck), Noufri Bachdim (visual theatre maker and artistic director of Studio Figur) and Joop Kuyvenhoven (founder of STIP theatre productions), Jetse Batelaan (artistic director of Theater Artemis) and Elien van den Hoek (artistic director of performances Het Houten Huis), Ad de Bont (writer of children's theatre texts) and Annet Bremen (playwright), Colette van Wees (head of programming for Theatre De Krakeling) and Marjorie Boston (programming for Dance and Urban Theatre bij de Schuur), Inèz Derksen (artistic director Het Laagland) and George Tobal (theatre maker).
