JULY 2025 PRIDE MONTH: Square Theatre celebrates queerness

THIS IS A PRESS RELEASE

Cultural organisations with a Cultural Membership can place their press releases on our site without restrictions. Participate too? Take a Cultural Membership.

This summer, too, the Plein Theater will be dedicated to Amsterdam Pride. From 5 July to 3 August, we will celebrate with a colourful and cheeky 'Queer in Oost' programme that challenges, questions and punctures the norm.

In a world where the freedoms of many are increasingly under pressure and the tone hardens, 'Queer in Oost' offers a stage for radical softness and unfiltered visibility. The programme includes sharp theatre performances, rebellious films and comedy. Time for more visible - and softly liquid - queerness!

Together with Cinemien, which celebrates 50 years of feminist filmmaking this year, we are screening quirky queer films in the theatre. The Transketeers will also bring their sharp look at gender identity with film. Furthermore, we surprise with theatre performances that wipe the floor with pigeonholing and we bring a Pride Comedy guaranteed to make everyone laugh and think.

Below you will find more information on the programme components for each day.
