With more than a thousand tickets sold, the ticket sales stand for the summer Tryater performance Swimbad already promising early in the year. One-fourth of the places in May-June this year are thus already filled.

Fruitful reading

Writer Wessel de Vries' newly completed script for the big location performance in and around Bakkeveen's outdoor swimming pool was read by the cast for the first time and in select company last week. Among others, Joke Tjalsma, Marjolein Ley, Karel Hermans and Anna Raadsveld let directors Tatiana Pratley and Aukje Schaafsma and the Tryater crew present hear what it holds in terms of storyline, texts and characters. At the same time, sales figures showed that audiences were already gearing up for Swimbad.

Flowing atmosphere

Director Tatiana Pratley, also artistic director of Tryater: ‘It's always exciting to see how a show turns out, but Wessel has made a beautiful script and the actors, sitting in their chairs, were already able to get to grips with the different characters. Us lytse publyk genoat al bot fan it yntrigearjende ferhaal oer útienrinnende libbensfazes. Der hinget in goede, fluoiende sfeer om Swimbad hinne: that fernimme we ek ook aan het publyk die nu al tige nijsgjirrich is en al in plakje bemachtigje wil. This wurdt bysûnder, fan ’t maitiid.’

Generations

Swimbad closes the 2025-2026 theatre season as a location performance. In this season, Tryater, founded in September 1965, celebrates its 60th anniversary. Among other things, with anniversary book Tryater spilet (publisher Afûk), anniversary performance Twa minuten foar oanfang (autumn 2025) and the upcoming Ienakterfestival (March). The theme of ‘generations’ recurs in all expressions. So too in Swimbad, which revolves around retired lifeguard Swaantsje (Joke Tjalsma) who sees her life floating by in the pool through various characters of varying ages.

Ticket sales continue in full swing until performance dates, and while stocks last, via the Tryater website.
