With the premiere weekend of performance Swimbad in Bakkeveen behind it and several more sold-out performances in the offing, theatre company Tryater sees demand rising so fast that it is adding two days to the play series. Ticket sales for the additional Sundays 7 and 14 June are now open.

Magical moment

‘Tryater closes its anniversary season with verve,’ reads one of the rave reviews published over the weekend. ‘A loving, colourful tribute to the body and to life,’ it sounds further on. The response from audiences who found tickets in time for one of the first performances echoes this. Artistic director Tatiana Pratley, together with Aukje Schaafsma directed Swimbad, is pleased with the successful closing of the theatre season in which Tryater celebrated its sixtieth anniversary: ‘We felt we were on the right track and der lei in goed skript. Dêrby rekkene it iepenloftbad fan Bakkefean as unyk dekôr, bliek it in skot yn ‘e roas. That it publyk sa posityf reagearret and the cards sa goed rinne, makket dat we net oars kinne als dit stik faker spylje. Us publyk moet kâns hawwe om dit mei te krijgen, foaralal if we mei elkenien ús sechtichste fierele. And then in sneintejûn is wol in magysk momint to belibjen in foarstelling yn en om it swimbadwetter. De earste minsken ha we al bliid meitsje kind mei dit ekstra oanbod.’

Fierder nei it Noarden with early booking discount

Meanwhile, the digital Tryater kiosk also spits out tickets with early booking discount for Fierder nei it Noarden, which is touring Frisian car garages in October and November. The show, with roles for Tamara Schoppert, Tim Helderman and musician Mats Voshol, is set in a garage where mother and son are stranded on a journey taken too spontaneously: the two relate to each other in a special way. Set in the mechanical setting of a car workshop, this is an intimate and surreal set, accompanied by extraordinary music. The early booking discount is valid until August.

The other side at Oerol

At the same time, at the Tryater building in Leeuwarden, creator Romke Gabe Draaijer is rehearsing with the team of The other side. This show will play at the Oerol Festival on Terschelling in June. The final part of Draaijer's triptych about coming out highlights the woman left behind after her husband leaves his heterosexual life behind. Actress Nynke Heeg is poignantly accompanied by waacking dancer Amin Alifin from Singapore. Tickets for this are available through Oerol.

Jubilee book still available

In September, Tryater's founding month in 1965, the anniversary book was published through publishing house Afûk Tryater spilet. The book is available at Tryater's performances and is reduced in price there.
