28 March 2026 - Meervaart, Amsterdam - Past, present and future in dance
On Saturday 28 March 2026, the eighth edition of ICK-Fest place. This annual festival by ICK Dance Amsterdam seeks to answer the question: what is the power of pure dance in times of uncertainty and increasing (international) tensions?
The full-length programme connects past, present and future including a new version of BOLERO. This performance by Emio Greco | Pieter C Scholten premiered 25 years ago as a poignant solo. Then, in 2015, it was developed into a piece for Ballet Nationale de Marseille with several dancers. In 2026, it will take a new form: a powerful performance by the full ICK ensemble as well as ICK-Next, in which the original intensity becomes even stronger: A collective energy of many bodies on one pulsating musical line.
Also, ICK Dans Amsterdam's latest piece enters the stage for the first time in the Netherlands. The cross-border performance فاصل F.A.S.L., which brings together influences from the Maghreb and Europe. Last November, the show premiered in Tunis as a co-production with the Ballet de l'Opéra de Tunis.
There is also room for new makers: the collective MAMM presents BREAKING, a physical and intimate dance performance about the search for space and the feeling of home in times of housing crisis. How do we fit into a 7m² house and how do we find our home when we move from room to room?
Besides the performances, the festival offers a lively fringe programme throughout the building. Visitors can discover expo-images and pop-up performances by the junior company NEXT in the corridors and foyer, and participate themselves in the interactive virtual dance game Replay!.
With dance, new perspectives and encounters, ICK-Fest 2026 promises to be another inspiring day for dance lovers and curious visitors.
