On Saturday 17 October 2026, Let’s Flow (10+) by Maas theatre and dance premieres at the Maaspodium in Rotterdam. This musical, physical and moving production by award-winning creator Sue-Ann Bel explores what happens in your body when you bleed and menstruate, and what happens when that can no longer remain a secret. Following the premiere, the production will go on tour throughout the Netherlands.
How do you live in a world that teaches you to keep quiet about what you feel? What do you do when it all becomes too much inside and you feel you have to move, have to sing, have to let it flow?
Five performers sing, dance and let loose, each with a different body and perspective. Together, they explore what it means to bleed, to blossom and to change – including for those who do not bleed but wish to understand, or are simply curious.
With songs for every fleeting emotion, until even the quietest toilet cubicle is filled with sound. Is that a massive choir coming from that toilet bowl, just when you thought you were alone?
Let’s Flow is an ode to life, our cycle and everything that keeps coming back. For everyone who is currently on their period, is about to start, or has ever been born.
With her latest performance, Let's go Barbie, the creator, Sue-Ann Bel, won the BNG Bank Theatre Prize, a Silver Cricket, and has been nominated for a Golden Cricket. *De Volkskrant* awarded it five stars and described it as a “A breathtaking experience for all ages”.
SPACE TO FLOW
Sue-Ann Bel on the performance: “I realised that, as a woman, I’ve become very good at not showing what’s really going on inside me. Not letting on too much that I’m in pain, that I’m more emotional, that I’m bleeding, or that my body needs something.”.
What happens if, on stage, we do exactly the opposite? If we allow tension to become overwhelming, let emotions run wild, and neither look away nor try to hide them?
”With Let’s Flow, I want to explore precisely that area. So that we no longer have to hold back everything that has long been flowing within us. But so that all the confusion, shame, pain, curiosity and also celebration that may go with it are allowed to find their place.”
