Theatre company Bureau Vergezicht is the winner of the very first NAPK Sustainability Award (2025). The award was created by the NAPK (Dutch Association for the Performing Arts) to recognise and encourage sustainable initiatives within the performing arts sector. The festive award ceremony took place on Wednesday 5 November during the Warming Up Festival in the Tolhuistuin (Amsterdam)....
Outstanding commitment
The jury praised Bureau Vergezicht for their outstanding commitment to sustainable working. The company is at the forefront of the industry and knows how to integrate sustainability into all facets of their practice: from production and content to tour planning and audience approach. Their approach is an example for the sector and shows that artistic quality and sustainability can go hand in hand. With this award, NAPK not only wants to Bureau Vergezicht in the spotlight, but also start a broader movement towards a future-proof performing arts sector.
From the jury report:
Quote: The jury pre-eminently felt that Bureau Vergezicht brings nuance where polarisation threatens and at the same time does not shy away from the uncomfortable conversation about the looming climate crisis. By highlighting the climate issue from different angles and entering into a dialogue with the public, policymakers and the business community, it becomes clear that the climate crisis is a systemic issue in which all parties must take their individual responsibility. The theatrical form in which this is done makes the issue less abstract and more palpable.
