The Dutch Dance Audience Award 2012 was awarded on Saturday 9 February 2013 to the Belgian performance Et Après By Isabelle Beernaert. During the festive ceremony on the closing night of The Hague CaDance Festival, awards were also presented to the Belgian Nina Plantefève-Castryck as 'Favourite Dancer'. The Honourable Mention from the organising website Dance audience.co.uk went to The Nutcracker by The Dutch Don' t Dance Division from The Hague.
MTV presenter and VJ Anna-Alicia Sklias presented the prizes: a business coaching at training institute de Baak worth €1,500.00 for the Favourite Dance Performance, and a brush drawing by choreographer/designer Toer van Schayk for the Favourite Dancer. The award ceremony took place on the closing night of the CaDance festival.
The winners of the Dance Audience Award 2012 were determined on the basis of votes that visitors to dance performances could give to performances. Voting took place via the internet, with some makers and companies also campaigning very intensively via social media. The Honourable Mention was chosen by the organisation on the basis of number of votes and special character of the production.
The award was organised for the second time. In January 2012, dancer Meysam and Saranágati of Samadhi Dance Company won. The Dans Publieksprijs 2012 was supported by Cultuurpers, the Dutch Professional Association of Dance Artists, training institute de Baak and Flexicon.nl. Learn more at www.danspublieksprijs.nl
