Queer Gaze Tour: A tour from an LGBTQ+ perspective

On Sunday 22 January 2023 from 11:30am to 12:30pm, there will be a Queer Gaze Tourwill take place at the Amsterdam Museum on the Amstel.
The Amsterdam Museum organises Queer Gaze Tours, where guest tour guides who are part of various LGBTQ+ communities and movements tell stories in relation to the Amsterdam Museum's collection.
On Sunday 22 January, Alex Kain leads participants around the permanent collection presentation Panorama Amsterdam at the Amsterdam Museum on the Amstel. Using various artworks and objects, she takes participants through Amsterdam's LGBTQ+ history and reflects with them on the Amsterdam Museum's collection and presentation. She asks them the question: which queer-related stories do you think should not be missing from the Amsterdam Museum?
Alex Kain works in daily life within the (inter)national philanthropic sector. She is a former board member of Transgender Network Netherlands (TNN).

New Narratives Tour by Julian Isenia

In the New Narratives series, the Amsterdam Museum asks a guest tour guide from outside the museum to reflect on the Amsterdam Museum's presentations and collection from their own perspective. Which stories are being told in the museum, which stories are not visible and which stories should be added? On Sunday 29 January, academic Julian Isenia will take visitors to the Amsterdam Museum on the Amstel through the permanent collection presentation Panorama Amsterdam.
Julian Isenia (he/him/they/them) is assistant professor of Anthropology at the University of Amsterdam. He is co-founder of Black, Queer & Trans Resistance NL and Black Queer Archives.
