What November Music stands for and what has been achieved in 2021
November Music is the festival for all adventurous music lovers. Every year, it brings together the most idiosyncratic and progressive creators and musicians from all over the world. Not with the flow or against it, but with new, own currents. It is precisely by giving a place to all these different sounds that November Music allows a personal and individual story to be heard, just as the makers themselves do. The Bosch Requiem composed by Hawar Tawfiq was one of the highlights this year, as were the concerts by festival composers Rebecca Saunders and Kaija Saariaho. The collaboration with FAQ festival went well and will be followed up. Furthermore, American jazz pianist Vijay Iyer and his new trio gave their first concert in the Netherlands to a sold-out audience. In total, there were 100 concerts in 11 days with 25 premieres and 20 commissioned works.
November Music stands for experiencing modern composed music, jazz, world music, music theatre, pop, installations and genres you never thought possible yourself. November Music creates encounters and challenges creators to jump into the deep end. Sounds Now, a new collaborative project involving 10 European festivals with sound art took place for the first time.
November Music will take place in 2022 from 3 to 13 November at various locations in 's-Hertogenbosch. For information: www.novembermusic.net
