Robbert Maruanaija and Patricia de Weichs de Wenne have joined the supervisory board of the Amsterdam Museum. Amsterdam City Council's Alderman for Art and Culture Touria Meliani appointed the new members.
Robbert Maruanaija (1986, born and living in Amsterdam) started his working life as a professional footballer and then switched to the creative sector. He says that since that switch, he has realised that he can make an impact on society as an advertiser and storyteller. Both inside and outside his work as a creative director at advertising Making a meaningful contribution to society: ''I have always made sure to strike a good balance between my work for big clients like Netflix, Spotify and Heineken and passion projects that I can put my own interests into. These projects range from social campaigns for Jim Taihuttu's feature film 'De Oost' and the Rijksmuseum's Slavery Exhibition, to free work in the form of the short documentary 'Untuk Selalu' about the differences and similarities of different groups of people in the Netherlands with roots in Indonesia. In my work, I always try to connect different groups of people. Because of my bi-cultural background, diversity and inclusion are topics that naturally find a place in my projects.''
The Supervisory Board of the Amsterdam Museum sees in Robbert Maruanaija a supervisor whose knowledge, work and life experience, age, network, vision and bi-cultural background will be of great value to the Amsterdam Museum and to the composition of the Supervisory Board.
Patricia de Weichs de Wenne (1969, living in Amsterdam) will hold her position on the Supervisory Board on the recommendation of the Amsterdam Museum Works Council. She is active as an interim manager, organisation consultant, coach and confidant, from her own agency De Weichs Advies. She served as business director of the Dordrecht Museum organisation for over ten years and as supervisor (vice-chairman) of the World Museum for eight years. She also worked as director of the Real Estate Company of Dordrecht municipality. At her farewell in Dordrecht, she spoke the words: ''I love art, but ultimately for me it's about people.' From this people-oriented vision, she wants to apply her experience and knowledge to the organisation and objectives of the Amsterdam Museum. With her experience in the field of organisation, coaching and social safety and her passion for Amsterdam, the Works Council and the Supervisory Board of the Amsterdam Museum see Patricia de Weichs de Wenne as a valuable addition to the Supervisory Board, especially at this time of renewal and renovation of the museum.
The Supervisory Board and the Board of the Amsterdam Museum warmly welcome the new board members and look forward to a pleasant cooperation.
