Writes for among others GPD magazines, Metro, LOS!, De Roskam, 8weekly, Mania, hetiskoers and Cultureel Persbureau/De Dodo about everything, but if possible about music (theatre) and sports. Other specialisms: figures, the United States and healthcare. Listens to Waits and Webern, Wagner and Dylan and pretty much everything in between.

It's raining annual lists and we're merrily joining in. As subjective as anyone, after all, no one sees everything, and opinions on taste can always differ. Of course, also in this list many performances in or from the Randstad, but half of them were not yet shown there. And all genres mixed together. As long as it is theatre. Scenische wereldpremière Gurre-Lieder is triomf voor Pierre Audi en Marc Albrecht

Meer dan een eeuw hebben we moeten wachten, maar eindelijk is Arnold Schönbergs Gurre-Lieder ook te zien. Verwonderlijk is dat niet. Naar verluidt was de componist tegen, want het betreft een cantate. Regisseur Pierre Audi en dirigent Marc Albrecht laten met deze scenische wereldpremière echter zeer overtuigend zien dat Gurre-Lieder een opera verborg die snakte naar het toneellicht.

Opeens zijn ze weg: het twitteraccount en de facebookpagina van het Nederlands Symfonieorkest. Zoeken naar de nieuwe *****naam levert ook niets op. Zal iets met allerhande rechtszaken te maken hebben. Maar wie nederlandssymfonieorkest.nl intikt, komt gelukkig uit op symfonieorkest.nl. Kranten trappen massaal in ‘onderzoek’ naar duurdere culturele uitjes.

Dat is schrikken. Op vrijdag meldt De Volkskrant dat de prijzen voor culturele activiteiten in Amsterdam sinds 2009 met maar liefst met 37,3% zijn gestegen. Nu.nl pikt het meteen op, al snel gevolgd door TROS Radar. Dan moet het wel waar zijn. Het door iedereen klakkeloos overgenomen nieuws verwijst naar een bericht op de site van de BBC. Dat bericht…
