Holland Festival's Supervisory Board appoints Carolien Gehrels as its new chair from 1 March 2021. Carolien Gehrels (1967) is well known to the Holland Festival as a regular visitor of performances and concerts and through her role as Amsterdam alderman responsible for art and culture from 2006 to 2014.

Because it is currently unclear whether, or how many, visitors The Concertgebouw is allowed to admit because of RIVM measures, the difficult decision has been taken to play the New Year's concert entirely without an audience.
