Leonard Bernstein zou dit jaar honderd zijn geworden. Het AVROTROS Vrijdagconcert zet zaterdag (!) 26 mei zijn populairste stuk op het programma, West Side Story. Het Radio Filharmonisch Orkest speelt live de opwindende muziek vol extatische melodieën en vitale dansen bij de integrale vertoning van de originele film uit 1961. Het geheel staat onder leiding van de jonge Amerikaanse dirigent James Gaffigan.
