The Flemish-Dutch House deBuren promotes cultural and social cooperation and exchange between Flanders and the Netherlands by presenting, producing, inspiring and connecting. Spearheads of deBuren are Flemish-Dutch cooperation, talent development and diversity.
As a house of culture and debate, we offer an extensive programme with 150 public activities a year and various cultural productions and projects. deBuren covers many genres and is active in its own house in Brussels, in the rest of Flanders, in the Netherlands and in third countries. The Flemish-Dutch House deBuren is located in the heart of Brussels, a 5-minute walk from the Central Station.
Vacancy
This spring, we have a vacancy for a general director, to take up office on 1 September 2019. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated general director, with a sound knowledge of and a big heart for the Flemish-Dutch cultural sector.
What do we expect from you?
- You are a cultural manager with good language skills.
- You motivate, encourage and lead a team of a dozen employees.
- You think in solutions and have a positive attitude.
- You are sufficiently familiar with Dutch and Flemish politics in general and cultural politics in particular.
- You are a cultural strategist with a solid network in Flanders and the Netherlands.
- You have at least 3 years of managerial experience as a director or head of department (or equivalent).

Your full-time contract assumes a 5-year mandate, renewable once. We offer a competitive salary, based on the scales and usual agreements in the cultural sector. We take your experience into account. Moreover, we reimburse commuting expenses within Belgium and offer meal vouchers, group insurance (pension savings scheme under Belgian law) and hospitalisation insurance.
