The Council for Culture is the statutory advisory body to the government and parliament in the field of culture and media. The council is independent and advises, solicited and unsolicited, on current policy issues and subsidy applications. The council aims to make advice with vision and daring; advice that makes a difference and contributes to a rich cultural life.
In accordance with Article 11(3) of the Advisory Bodies Framework Act, the Minister of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) announces the opening of two vacancies in the Council for Culture. The council consists of eight members including the chairman.
Culture Council members have:
- knowledge of/affinity with the field of culture and/or media from a broad social orientation;
- vision of cultural and/or media policy and the ability to communicate it;
- an independent, original and/or authoritative input into the council's field of activity;
- understanding and knowledge of the functioning of institutions in the cultural and media field;
- general advisory skills (analytical capacity, expertise, vision, reflective attitude, critical ability, creativity, innovative capacity, policy sensitivity, independence, focused on cooperation)
Given the current composition, the council is looking for:
- A member with knowledge of and experience in the field of media (including broadcasting and journalism) and;
- a member with a scientific profile
A balanced representation from different regions, population groups, age groups and genders is sought in the composition of the council. There is an opportunity to nominate suitable candidates.
The selection process is carried out by an independent Appointments Advisory Committee, which advises the minister on filling the vacancy. Appointment is made by the Crown upon nomination by the minister for a period of four years. The time commitment for this position is on average 2-3 days per month.
