We already wrote extensively about the name change of the Orchestra of the East in the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra (NSO). The curious opera grant application based on a business plan that carries huge risks had our full attention. Regular partner the National Travel Opera was not amused.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra is also fighting the NSO. In the capital city, they think the Enschede-based orchestra's new name is very similar to its own. Salient detail: the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra takes the lion's share of the opera accompaniments at De Nederlandse Opera. An ambition that NSO also has. So clearly the 'new' orchestra is not making any friends there.
Of course, NSO director Harm Mannak is not in favour of a second name change within a year - just think of all the costs incurred for new logos - especially since the new name was chosen precisely to make the orchestra more recognisable nationwide.
As a result, he may now defend that recognisability before the Amsterdam district court.

A hint: perhaps the Netherlands Student Orchestra, which has been using the acronym NSO for years, has now been given an idea.
